Weekly lesson plans

Our teaching standards are high. OC Piano students are able to read, interpret, and play music within their level with confidence.

Students learn to read music notes and expand their music theory vocabulary. In addition, they work on proper form, technique and performance skills.

“Our elite training shows results in as little as 3 weeks. Parents are always amazed to find their little ones performing songs within just a few lessons.”

First 5 minutes

Next 25 minutes

Between lessons

Short daily practice beats one long session the night before. As little as 5 minutes a day makes a difference for a beginner.

45-minute lessons

F.A.Q.

Learn more about our elite music program.

What age do you start accepting students?

To ensure every student thrives in our program, our curriculum is built around two key developmental markers that typically align with age 6. Cognitive readiness: at 6, children possess the focus, reading comprehension, and processing skills required to navigate music notation and theory. Physical development: proper piano technique relies on hand size, and by age 6 a child's fingers are long and developed enough to sit comfortably on the keys and play with healthy form.

Which Orange County cities do you serve?

We teach across Orange County. Most of our families are in Mission Viejo, Irvine, Lake Forest, Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, Ladera Ranch, Rancho Mission Viejo, San Juan Capistrano, Tustin, Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Anaheim and Orange, and our educators travel to the rest of the county as well. If your city is not listed, ask when you call. Virtual lessons work anywhere.

Do you offer in-home & virtual piano lessons?

Our master educators are proud to offer both virtual and in-home piano lessons. Our families can also opt for a hybrid structure, which allows for the quality, convenience & affordability services.

Do we need a piano to start?

Yes, students will need their own piano or keyboard at home to practice. We recommend beginner students start with an inexpensive digital piano or keyboard. Once the child shows serious interest and skill, families may choose to upgrade to a standard upright or grand piano.

How to choose a first keyboard
How long are your lessons?

We offer 30-minute piano lessons for our beginner-intermediate students & 45-minute piano lessons for our intermediate-advanced students. For students on the MTAC & RCM track, 45-minute weekly lessons are necessary to prepare for the examinations.

What do typical lessons look like?

Lessons are highly structured and follow our award-winning curriculum. The first 5 minutes of every lesson is dedicated to reading notes and building music theory vocabulary. The next 25 minutes focuses on learning performance solos.

Is there a long-term contract?

OC Piano Program offers an open door policy and families are free to stop lessons at any time. Please note that lesson cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a forfeited lesson fee.

How often do you recommend tuning our piano?

At the minimum, acoustic pianos should be tuned yearly. Annual maintenance not only improves the quality of sound, but also protects the internal components.
